A young black girl in a white shirt stands in front of a weathered green door with "GIRLS" painted on it, looking contemplative and serious.

On 11 December 2025, to conclude the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Educaid.be and partners will host the Belgian official film premiere of IMPURE followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.

About the Film

IMPURE, directed by German filmmaker Rico Herre, is inspired by true events and set in rural Kenya. The film tells the story of a girl whose life and education are profoundly affected by menstrual stigma.

With this Belgian premiere, we want to break the silence around menstrual stigma and menstrual poverty. Menstrual poverty is not only a financial issue but also an educational one, affecting girls’ ability to participate fully in school and society. Menstrual health is universal and intersectional, including the ways in which culture, systemic inequality, and social norms shape experiences.
