Social Responsibility within Changing Contexts
As we enter the third decade of the 21st century, we are experiencing rapid changes in political, economic, environmental, cultural, and social spaces, including an expansion of non-state actors in the field and new social movements. These changes influence education globally and locally.
Against this background, CIES 2021 calls for revisiting the relationships among context, actors, visions, and action; and invites a renewed attention to social responsibility and the ethical practice of education and policy development.
VVOB partakes in three different panels:
- Education Manager Anne-Thora Vardoy-Mutale shares experiences on remedial teaching from the Teaching at the Right Level project in Zambia in a panel 'Supporting students in the classroom: Remediation in a variety of contexts' with IRC and Catholic Relief Services.
- Partnerships Manager Anna Murru provides insights into the (de)motivating factors of Zambia's early childhood teachers in a panel 'ECE Teacher Motivation: constraints, challenges and opportunities for quality ECE workforce development' with UNESCO and VSO.
- Monitoring and Learning Advisor Yen Phung Thi and Education Advisor Koen Verrecht delve into Learning through Play in Vietnam in a panel 'Reimagining primary education teaching and teacher support in changing times: Learning through play perspectives from Bangladesh, Vietnam, Kenya and Ghana' with LEGO Foundation, BRAC, Aga Khan Foundation and Right to Play.
