Educaid.be's annual conference focuses on 'Education and Displacement. Challenges and approaches to providing quality education to refugees and displaced people in the Global South' in 2019.

  • The conference opens with the official launch in Belgium of the 2019 GEM Report “Migration, displacement and education: Building bridges not walls”. The report examines the impact of all population movements for employment and education.
  • A panel of international experts from CSOs, govenments and donors then outlines some of the global experiences and initiatives supporting the provision of quality education to displaced people worldwide.
  • In the afternoon, three parallel sessions focus on practices and concrete examples from Rwanda, Uganda and Syria by local and international practitioners.
  • The closing address is delivered by UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education, Koumbou Boly-Barry.
