During a free session of the IPU on the morning of Tuesday March 22nd 2016, delegates of the Belgian Parliament, Senators Pol Van Den Driessche and Philippe Mahoux, as well as Sabien Lahaye-Battheu and Roel Deseyn from the House of Representatives, had an opportunity to visit a sample of the activities being implemented by the biggest Belgian development organisation operating in Zambia, VVOB - Education for Development. The delegates, led by Senator Pol Van Den Driessche, visited a Community School in the outskirts of Lusaka, Tulibantu Community School. They toured the school and interacted with the teachers and pupils. While there they donated pupil and teachers books for grades 1 to 7.

The delegation then paid a visit to the Zambia Institute of Special Needs Education (ZAMISE) to learn more about how VVOB has been supporting the College with teaching and learning tools as well as technical assistance for the lecturers of the institution. As part of the visit the delegates were able to see the newly established early education demonstration class for children with special needs, which has been set up with support from VVOB.

In concluding the visit Senator Van Den Driessche urged VVOB to continue the good work. Unfortunately the day was marred by the events that unfolded as a result of the attacks in Brussels. Senator Pol Van Den Driessche, led the team to observe a minute of silence for the victims of the attacks.
