VVOB has been working in Rwanda since 1985, supporting the Ministry of Education and its partners to strengthen the professional development of teachers and school leaders. Together, we contributed to national programmes that enhanced the quality of teaching and learning, particularly in school leadership, early childhood, primary education and secondary education.
While VVOB’s operations in Rwanda under Belgian development cooperation concluded in 2025, our collaboration and commitment with the Rwandan government to education continue through the African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL), focusing on providing needs-based and demands driven technical support on policy development and reform, professional development, research and gender, equity and social inclusion. ACSL also engages with Rwanda stakeholders to promote learning and exchange and collect best school leadership practices across the African continent.
