Supporting the professional development of Early Childhood Development (ECD) educators, teachers and leaders across KwaZulu-Natal requires collaboration between government and civil society.
The Funda Udlale Nathi programme provides educators, teachers and leaders from all districts of KwaZulu-Natal blended professional development focused on Learning through Play. Its implementation relies on the collaboration between VVOB, civil society organisations, the South Arican Council for Educators and the Kwazulu-Natal Department of Education.
Drawing on 32 interviews with government and civil society partners the F.U.N. Partnership Learning Brief looks into what strengthens collaboration. From clearly defined roles to structured communication and visible government ownership.
The findings show that partnership is more than an implementation tool. It expands reach and increases legitimacy, allowing government and civil society to address capacity challenges together. With clear roles and visible commitment from leadership, partnerships can support large scale implementation and sustain results in the long term.
