Manual for the Implementation of Restorative Practices in Educational Institutions

This manual provides practical guidance for teachers, counsellors, and education leaders in Ecuador on implementing restorative practices to promote positive school climates and peaceful conflict resolution. Developed under the Programa de Educación y Formación Técnica y Profesional in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, it builds on previous publications on school coexistence and bullying prevention, offering a structured framework for application in classrooms and institutions.

The publication explains key concepts of restorative education, including dialogue circles, mediation, and emotional education, and provides tools for managing conflicts and rebuilding trust after harm. It includes case examples, facilitation steps, and reflective activities to strengthen empathy, accountability, and collaboration among students and staff. The manual aims to embed restorative approaches in daily school practices as part of Ecuador’s national strategy for inclusive and equitable education.
