Summary
This manual provides technical guidance to teachers and school leaders in Ecuador’s technical secondary education system on how to organise, manage, and evaluate productive units (unidades de vinculación productiva) within schools. Developed under VVOB’s Educación y Formación Técnica y Profesional (EFTP) programme, the publication supports the implementation of Ecuador’s competency-based education reform by linking classroom learning to real-world production and entrepreneurship.
The manual offers detailed steps for designing productive units, managing financial and material resources, and integrating practical learning into students’ technical training. It also presents strategies for involving the private sector and local communities to strengthen employability and innovation. The publication’s second edition includes updated procedures and templates aligned with the Ministry of Education’s national guidelines for productive units in technical schools.
