Summary
This paper analyses the partnership between VVOB and the Subsecretariat of Educational Foundations in Ecuador to strengthen teacher education in the Bachillerato Técnico (technical upper secondary education) system. The study discusses how the Programa de Fortalecimiento de la Educación y Formación Técnica y Profesional (EFTP) supported teacher qualification, professionalisation, and capacity building through a multi-dimensional approach based on research and collaboration.
The publication highlights key achievements such as the development of 21 professional profiles for technical teachers, the creation of a new postgraduate specialisation in Technical Education, and the establishment of continuous professional learning opportunities linking schools with industries and universities. Innovative pedagogical approaches, including Lesson Study, competency-based design models, and sustainability-focused teaching methods, are also discussed as part of Ecuador’s broader educational reform to enhance the quality and relevance of technical education.
