Our Approach to Partnerships
In Uganda, VVOB works hand in hand with the Ministry of Education and Sports. We don’t build parallel systems; we strengthen what already exists. Together, we design professional development and education programmes that fit national structures, so teachers and school leaders have lasting support. Our approach is based on mutual learning, evidence that works in practice, and reforms that endure beyond any single project.
Government Partners
The Ministry of Education and Sports is VVOB’s closest partner in Uganda. As the national authority on education, the Ministry ensures that reforms are sustainable and reach every learner.
We also collaborate with the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), the Uganda National Institute of Teacher Education (UNITE), the National Instructors’ College Abilonino (NICA), and Gulu University to align teacher and instructor education with Uganda’s needs for practical, future-oriented learning.
Local government
Kasese District Local Government and Kasese Municipal Council are key partners in scaling UCatchUp, ensuring the model is embedded in local systems and aligned with national priorities.
Collaborating Partners
VVOB’s work in Uganda is made possible through strong collaboration with TaRL Africa, Hogent University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the Government of Belgium, and the Hempel Foundation. These partnerships strengthen remedial education, support systemic reforms, and ensure good practice is scaled sustainably.
Partner With Us
VVOB’s work in Uganda is only possible thanks to these strong partnerships. By working within national systems and building long-term relationships, we make good practice stick from classroom level to national policy.
