The contextualised version of the remedial programme, Catch-up, targeting grades 3, 4, 5 in literacy and numeracy was piloted in 2016 and is set to reach national scale in 2024.

The FLN Advocacy Hub is organising an online learning session hosted by UNICEF, VVOB, Teaching at the Right Level Africa, and the Ministry of Education in Zambia on Sustaining and Scaling Catch-up. The session will provide an overview of the programme, its pilot in 80 schools, how it functions and current status, partners involved, and the importance of partnership throughout the process. Lastly, the Zambia Ministry of Education will share more about the programmes, how it is being scaled and their long-term vision for Catch-up Zambia.

Successes and lessons from implementing the Catch-up Zambia programme will be shared from:

  • Faith Kyulabantu Mwamba, Senior Education Officer for Primary at the Ministry of Education, Zambia
  • Misheck Mwanza, Education Officer at UNICEF
  • Devyani Pershad, Technical Advisor at TaRL Africa
  • Moono Mwiinde, Education Manager at VVOB
